Description
Epoxy-based, two-component bonding and assembly mortar. It is used for anchoring all types of rebar and setting anchor elements; for repairing and sealing concrete cracks and sealing cracks during crack injection; for all types of structural concrete repair; for mounting and bonding all kinds of metal parts to concrete or steel elements; and as an expansion joint tape adhesive.
Advantages
- Contains no solvents.
- Easy to use and apply.
- Has high mechanical strength.
- It is waterproof.
- Adheres even to damp surfaces.
- Excellent adhesion to concrete and steel.
- Does not shrink.
- Accommodates floor stresses caused by temperature differences and is not affected by them.
- Application is faster because there is no need to apply adhesive mortar to the back of the panels.
- Resistant to freeze-thaw cycles.
- Thanks to its thixotropic properties, it does not sag on vertical surfaces.
Application Areas
- For all types of rebar anchoring.
- For setting anchoring elements.
- For repairing and sealing concrete cracks, and for sealing cracks during crack injection.
- For all types of structural concrete repair.

Surface Preparation and Application
- Surface preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. No loose layer may remain on the surface to be coated.
- Mixing: After components A and B have each been stirred in their own containers, pour all of component B into component A and mix for at least 3 minutes until the two components form a homogeneous mixture. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
- Use as an expansion joint tape adhesive: The mixed adhesive is applied with a spatula or trowel. Using a laminating roller or spatula, the adhesive is worked up through the perforations of the expansion joint tape. Concrete must be placed before the adhesive cures (i.e. as long as a finger still sinks in and feels tacky when touched).
- Bonding metal profiles to vertical surfaces: Depending on the surface and room temperature, the profiles are supported by pressing with clamps and/or props for at least 12 hours.
- Anchoring: Where a new column, beam or shear wall is to be built on concrete, holes or channels are drilled into the concrete, cleaned of dust and filled with the epoxy adhesive/assembly paste DEMCO EPOX 283 DBA, and the anchor bars are quickly inserted.
Application Conditions
- Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal temperature of the floor to be coated should be 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
- The full curing time of DEMCO EPOX 283 DBA applied at 20°C – 25°C is 7 days on average.
