Description
Solvent-free, epoxy-based bonding agent that can also be applied in damp conditions. It adheres excellently to surfaces such as concrete and sheet steel. In applications where DEMCO EPOX 220 is used as a bonding agent between old and new concrete and/or in concrete repaired with DEMCO EPOX 220, tensile and pull-off tests show that failure and separation occur not at the DEMCO EPOX 220 areas but in other parts.
Advantages
- Solvent-free.
- Hardens without shrinkage.
- High mechanical strength. High abrasion and impact resistance.
- Cures even at low temperatures.
- Adheres to damp substrates. Can cure even under water.
Application Areas
- Used for repairing cavities and cracks.
- Used in strengthening projects carried out with structural steel elements.
- Used for bonding old/new concrete (and/or screed).
- Used to waterproof concrete from the outside during concrete pouring.
Suitable Substrates
- Concrete surfaces
- Sheet metal surfaces
- Damp substrates

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. No loose layer should remain on the surface. Glossy surfaces should be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or scarifying.
Mixing: The entire B component should be poured into the A component, and the two components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
Application: DEMCO EPOX 220 is applied to the prepared surface at 600 – 800 g/m², depending on the concrete substrate, by brush, roller or preferably spray gun. The concrete must be placed before the adhesive cures (i.e. while a finger still sinks in and the adhesive feels tacky when touched).
Thinner: Not to be thinned with thinner.
Application Conditions
- Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal temperature of the floor to be coated should be 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
