Description
A two-component, aliphatic polyurethane-based topcoat. It gives paint and coating systems resistance to ultraviolet radiation. It is used in outdoor areas of industrial facilities to provide slip resistance on surfaces such as concrete and steel structures.
Advantages
- High abrasion resistance.
- Moves together with the surface it is applied to.
- Does not crack.
- Creates a textured surface that increases slip resistance.
- Protects the surface it is applied to against scratching and yellowing.
- Thanks to its UV resistance, it does not dull or chalk.
Application Areas
- Outdoor areas of industrial facilities.
- As a topcoat to provide slip resistance on concrete and steel structure surfaces.
- As a topcoat that gives paint and coating systems resistance to ultraviolet rays.
Suitable Substrates
- Concrete surfaces roughened and primed with the solvent-free epoxy impregnation primer DEMCO EPOX 100 PR.
- Blast-cleaned sheet metal surfaces primed with a suitable primer.
- Wooden surfaces that have been cleaned, dried and primed with a suitable epoxy impregnating primer.
- Solvent-free polyurethane, polyurea or epoxy coatings, where deemed necessary.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation
- Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. The surface must be free of moisture, and no loose layer whatsoever may remain.
- If the substrate is sheet metal, it should be primed with a suitable primer after sandblasting.
- If the surface to be coated is wood, it must be cleaned with sandpaper or a floor sanding machine, freed of dust and dried, and then primed with a suitable epoxy impregnation primer.
- If the substrate is concrete, it must be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or scarifying. The prepared concrete surface must be primed with the Solvent-Free Epoxy Impregnation Primer DEMCO EPOX 100 PR so that it is fully impregnated, following the application instructions.
- Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired using epoxy putty.
Mixing and application
- After component A has been mixed in its own container, all of component B should be poured into component A, and the two components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
- Thinner: Thin with Polyurethane Thinner PUR 1000 THINNER by max. 5 – 10%.
- After the primer coat has been applied, make sure the primer surface is touch-dry; depending on the ambient temperature, DEMCO PUR 413 TOP COAT should be applied after approximately 24 hours.
- Polyurethane Topcoat DEMCO PUR 413 TOP COAT is applied by brush or roller over the above-mentioned primer or, where required, over solvent-free polyurethane, polyurea or epoxy coatings.
- During work, mix suitable quantities and continue working until the entire mix has been used up.
Application Conditions
- The working area temperature should be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal substrate temperature for application is 15°C – 30°C.
- The temperature must never fall below 10°C.
- For outdoor and indoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account. Substrate moisture must be below 4% and ambient humidity below 65%.
- For 24 hours after application, the surface must not be touched or come into contact with water.
- When applied at 20 – 25°C, DEMCO PUR 413 TOP COAT reaches full cure at room temperature in an average of 7 days.
Coverage
A dry film thickness of 50 – 55 µm is achieved with a consumption of 0,150 – 0,200 kg/m² in a single coat.
