Description
DEMCO EPOX 170 PR/F is a solvent-free, epoxy-based, filled primer. It adheres to the surface it is applied to and increases its impact strength and chemical resistance. It also ensures that subsequent coats and/or fillers broadcast onto it before full cure adhere to the surface. Thanks to its filler content, it can also be used as a scratch coat.
Advantages
- Contains no solvents.
- Easy to apply.
- Thanks to its self-flowing property, it levels itself on the surface to which it is applied.
- Penetrates the capillary pores within the concrete structure.
- Prevents dusting of concrete surfaces and increases the chemical and impact resistance of the concrete.
- Thanks to its filling properties, it is also used as a scratch coat.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. The surface must be free of moisture, and no loose layer whatsoever may remain. Glossy surfaces must be roughened by shot blasting or scarifying. The prepared concrete surface should be primed, preferably with the solvent-free epoxy impregnation primer DEMCO EPOX 100 PR, so that it is fully impregnated, following the application instructions. Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired using epoxy putty.
Mixing: The entire B component should be poured into the A component, and the two components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
Application: DEMCO EPOX 170 PR/F is applied to the prepared and primed surface with a notched trowel. If no filler or quartz broadcast is required on top, the entrapped gases are released with a spiked roller. If filler or quartz is broadcast, the loose quartz is swept off after 24 hours. After the surface has been treated with a scraper or power trowel, DEMCO EPOX 170 PR/F is applied as a scratch coat with the flat side of the trowel. Once it is touch-dry, the desired topcoat is applied.
Application Conditions
- Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal substrate temperature is 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- For both outdoor and indoor applications, substrate and ambient temperature as well as ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- The relative moisture of the substrate must be below 4% and the ambient humidity below 80%.
- For 24 hours after application, the surface must not be touched and must not come into contact with water.
- A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
- When applied at 20 – 25°C, the product reaches full cure at room temperature in 7 days on average.
