Description
A solvent-free epoxy primer. It adheres to the surface it is applied to and increases its impact strength and chemical resistance. It also ensures that subsequent coats and/or aggregates broadcast onto it before it has fully cured adhere to the surface.
Advantages
- Contains no solvents.
- Easy to apply thanks to its low viscosity.
- Increases the mechanical strength of the concrete surfaces to which it is applied and prevents dusting.
- Penetrates the capillary pores in the concrete and blocks them.
- Increases the chemical and impact resistance of concrete.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface Preparation
- Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants.
- The surface to be coated must be free of moisture, and no loose layer whatsoever may remain.
- Glossy surfaces should be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or milling.
- Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired using epoxy putty.
Mixing
- All of component B must be poured into component A and the two components mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
- A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
Application
- DEMCO EPOX 118 PR epoxy primer and/or a mixture of the primer with quartz in equal proportions is applied to the prepared surface.
- If required, quartz is broadcast onto the surface. After 24 hours, the loose quartz is swept off.
- For 24 hours after application, the surface must not be touched or come into contact with water.
Application Conditions
- Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal substrate temperature is 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- Substrate moisture must be below 4% and ambient humidity below 80%.
- When applied at 20 – 25°C, DEMCO EPOX 118 PR reaches full cure in 7 days.
Coverage
May vary depending on the required film thickness and the absorbency of the surface. 400 g/m² is sufficient for a thickness of 350 – 370 µm.
Storage and Shelf Life
At 15 – 25°C in dry, closed warehouses away from direct sunlight, in unopened original packaging; 1 year.
Packaging
Total Net: 20 kg (A: 14 kg / B: 6 kg)
Safety Precautions
Avoid contact of the mixture or components with skin and eyes; in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles, and keep the product out of reach of children.
Approvals / Standards
Tested to EN 1504-2 within the scope of CE certification.
