Description
A solvent-free epoxy primer. It adheres to the surface it is applied to and increases its impact strength and chemical resistance. It also ensures that subsequent coats and/or aggregates broadcast onto it before it has fully cured adhere to the surface.
Advantages
- Contains no solvents.
- Low viscosity and easy to apply.
- Prevents dusting of the surface to which it is applied.
- Penetrates the capillary pores in the concrete and blocks them.
- Increases the chemical and impact resistance of concrete.
- Resistant to cold greases and machine oils used in repair and maintenance work.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface Preparation
- Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants.
- The surface to be coated must be free of moisture, and no loose layer whatsoever may remain.
- Glossy surfaces should be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or scarifying.
- The prepared concrete surface must be primed with the Solvent-Free Epoxy Impregnating Primer DEMCO EPOX 100 PR, following the application instructions, so that it is fully impregnated.
- Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired using epoxy putty.
Mixing
- All of component B must be poured into component A and the two components mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
- Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
- During work, mix suitable quantities and continue working until the entire mix has been used up.
Application Method
- Epoxy Primer DEMCO EPOX 117 PR and/or a mixture prepared with quartz in a one-to-one ratio is applied onto the prepared and primed surface.
- If required, quartz is broadcast onto the surface.
- After 24 hours, loose quartz is swept up and removed.
- After the surface has been prepared by grinding or power troweling, a scratch coat is applied, followed by the topcoat.
Application Conditions
The working area temperature should be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal substrate temperature is 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- The relative moisture content of the substrate must be below 4%, and the ambient humidity below 80%.
- For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- When applied at 20 – 25°C, DEMCO EPOX 117 PR reaches full cure at room temperature in an average of 7 days.
Coverage
Consumption varies depending on the required film thickness (400 g/m²: 350 – 370 µ).
Storage and Shelf Life
At 15 – 25°C in dry, closed warehouses away from direct sunlight, in unopened original packaging; 1 year.
Packaging
Total Net: 20 kg (A: 14 kg / B: 6 kg)
Safety Precautions
Avoid contact of the mixture or components with skin and eyes; in case of contact, wash with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles, and keep out of the reach of children.
Approvals / Standards
Tested to EN 1504-2 within the scope of CE certification.
