Surface Preparation and Application
Surface Preparation
- Before degreasing, clean the surface with warm water and a suitable detergent, then rinse thoroughly with clean water. Use suitable cleaning thinners to remove any remaining dirt and grease residues.
- PP-EPDM-based vehicle bumpers / ABS-based vehicle parts: After cleaning the surface, abrade it with a red or grey scuff pad. After scuffing, clean the surface again with a suitable cleaning thinner.
- Painted thermoplastic parts: Use P220 – P320 abrasive for the final dry sanding step. For spot repairs, sand the edges of the repair area with P400.
- Surface cleaning: Clean the surface with a suitable cleaning thinner to remove contamination. Avoid contact of surfaces treated with filler with water or water-based cleaners.
Application Method
- Shake the product thoroughly before application.
- Remove all moisture from the painting equipment before use.
- Apply 1 coat (2 coats if desired) evenly over the entire surface of untreated plastic parts, extending each coat over a wider area than the previous one.
- Allow a flash-off time of 30 minutes at 20°C before applying primer/topcoat over it.
- Apply the primer/topcoat within 24 hours at 20°C. If this time is exceeded, sand the surface with a grey scuff pad and apply 1 full coat again.
- Products that can be applied over it: primers and topcoats.
- Clean the painting equipment thoroughly immediately after application so that no residue remains.
- Close the product lid tightly after application.
