Description

DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB is an industrial floor coating system based on polyurethane-cement hybrid technology. DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB is a three-component, trowel-grade resurfacing and coving mortar designed for use with the polyurethane-based topcoat DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL23-UT/WB.

Note: Application time is the time following the immediate pouring of the material onto the substrate after mixing, in accordance with the application procedure. Curing times are average values and are given for guidance only. They may vary depending on site conditions.

Surface Preparation and Application

Surface preparation: Inadequate surface preparation leads to poor adhesion and delamination of the coating. With liquid-applied coating systems installed in situ, there is a risk of substrate irregularities showing through on the coating surface. For such applications, surface abrasion by diamond grinding and shot blasting is recommended. Scarifying and acid etching methods are not recommended.

Priming: For the primer coat, a mixture of component A (resin) and component B (hardener) of DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB must be used. The entire hardener component must be poured into the resin and mixed for at least 1 minute until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. The mixture must be applied to the surface by brush or roller at a consumption of approx. 0,200 kg/m², depending on the roughness of the surface. DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB must be applied while the primer is still wet, and the primer layer must be allowed to set.

Coating layer: DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB is a three-component product. All of the hardener component should be poured into the resin component and mixed for at least 1 minute until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. The prepared mixture should be transferred to a high-performance pan mixer; the powder component should be added slowly while mixing continues, and mixing should continue for at least three minutes until a lump-free, homogeneous consistency is obtained. The best compaction can be achieved with a cove trowel. The surface should be finished with a steel trowel and a cove trowel.

Topcoat: Once DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB has fully cured, it must always be coated with DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL23-UT/WB in a suitable colour.

Application Conditions

• During application, the ambient, material and substrate temperatures must be 15°C-30°C.
• To reduce risks such as condensation or blooming, ensure that the floor and the application surface remain min. 3°C above the dew point for 48 hours after completion of the application.
• Must not be used on substrates known to be affected by rising damp or in environments with relative humidity above 75%.
• Application should not be carried out if the substrate is 5°C below the dew point temperature.
• A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.

Note: The values given are theoretical. Values may vary depending on wastage and surface roughness.

Storage and Shelf Life

At 10 – 30°C in closed warehouses away from direct sunlight, in a dry environment, in unopened original packaging; 1 year (6 months for the aggregate component). Products stored outside these temperatures or in environments subject to constant temperature fluctuations may have a reduced shelf life. Protect from frost.

Chemical Resistance

DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB coated with DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL23-UT/WB is resistant to many chemicals commonly used in the food, dairy and pharmaceutical industries and in manufacturing areas, such as citric acid (fruit derivatives), acetic acid (50% vinegar), lactic acid (milk and dairy products) and alcohols (methanol, ethanol).

It also offers high resistance to inorganic acids, fuels, hydraulic oils, mineral oils and solvents. Appropriate cleaning and maintenance methods should be applied to ensure the long-term performance of the product.

Chemical resistance may vary depending on contact time, temperature, the type of chemical and the cleaning carried out. Under these conditions, staining or discoloration may occur; however, this does not affect the performance or service life of the product.

Precautions

• Regular maintenance and cleaning are essential to preserve the product's service life, slip resistance and color. It can be cleaned easily using standard industrial cleaning materials and chemicals. Consult your supplier about cleaning chemicals and protection.
• It does not change color quickly but may yellow over time. The rate of change depends on UV light and heat levels. This will be more noticeable with light colors and blue shades. In such cases, the service life and chemical resistance of the product are not reduced.
• DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL31 COVING/WB is supplied in a single standard color. A matching color can be achieved with DEMCO® PUR 303 CONCRETE SL23-UT/WB.

Safety Precautions

Avoid contact of the mixture or its components with skin and eyes; in case of contact, rinse with plenty of water and consult a doctor. Wear protective gloves, clothing and goggles, and keep the product out of the reach of children. If swallowed, do not induce vomiting and seek medical attention immediately. Refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
