Description

A two-component, surface-tolerant, solvent-free epoxy topcoat. It is a coating system with both primer and topcoat properties, providing good adhesion and corrosion protection on concrete surfaces where surface cleaning and primer application are not possible. It is used for coating floors requiring a smooth finish in areas where food products are manufactured, stored and sold; for coating the floors of warehouses, shops and offices; in industry and port facilities; and on submerged and above-water sections of steel and concrete surfaces. It is a coating system used on concrete floors where a smooth finish is required in a single application.

Advantages

  • Has very good chemical resistance and high mechanical strength.
  • Low viscosity and easy to apply. Can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray.
  • Provides good waterproofing.
  • Can be applied even to damp surfaces without the need for a primer.
  • As it requires no primer, it is an economical coating system.
  • Thanks to its semi-elastic properties, it moves with the substrate. It does not crack or break.

Application Areas

  • Floors where foodstuffs are produced, stored and sold and a smooth finish is required
  • Warehouse, store and office floors
  • Industrial and port facilities
  • Submerged and above-water sections of steel and concrete surfaces
  • Concrete floors where a smooth finish is required in a single application

Surface Preparation and Application

  • Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants.
  • No loose layer should remain on the surface to be coated.
  • Glossy surfaces should be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or scarifying.
  • All of component B must be poured into component A and the two components mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained.
  • Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
  • Do not thin the product with thinner.
  • DEMCO EPOX 223 TOP COAT/ST is applied to the prepared surface by brush, roller or airless spray.

Application Conditions

  • Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
  • The ideal substrate temperature is 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
  • For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
  • The relative moisture of the substrate must be below 4% and the ambient humidity below 80%.
  • A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
  • When applied at 20 – 25°C, the product reaches full cure at room temperature in 7 days on average.
