Description
DEMCO EPOX 112 PR is an epoxy moisture barrier. It is a priming and penetrating material for concrete and cement-based mineral substrates. It is used as a primer for epoxy, polyurethane and polyurea floor coatings. As it contains no solvents or active substances, it can be used safely in enclosed spaces. Thanks to its surface tolerance, it provides good adhesion to damp surfaces. Thanks to its low viscosity, it penetrates very well into the surface to which it is applied. It increases the impact strength and chemical resistance of the substrate. It also ensures the adhesion of subsequent coats to the surface.
Advantages
- Contains no solvents.
- Low viscosity and easy to apply.
- Prevents dusting of the surface to which it is applied.
- Resistant to cold greases and machine oils used in repair and maintenance work.
- Penetrates the capillary pores in the concrete and blocks them.
- Thanks to its surface tolerance, it can be applied to damp surfaces.
Application Areas
- Used as a primer under epoxy, polyurethane and polyurea floor coatings.
- Used as a primer and binder in concrete repairs under all types of epoxy and polyurethane-based coatings, impregnating concrete surfaces to protect them against abrasion, dusting and chemicals.
Suitable Substrates
- Concrete and cement-based mineral surfaces.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation: Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. No loose layer may remain on the surface to be treated. Glossy surfaces must be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or scarifying.
Mixing: The entire B component should be poured into the A component, and the two components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
Application: The epoxy moisture barrier DEMCO EPOX 112 PR is applied to the prepared surface by brush or roller. Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired with epoxy putty. Subsequent epoxy, polyurethane and/or polyurea applications are then carried out on the primed surface.
Thinner: Not to be thinned with thinner.
Application Conditions
Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal temperature of the floor to be coated should be 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
- For both outdoor and indoor applications, substrate and ambient temperature as well as ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- During work, mix suitable quantities and continue working until the entire mix has been used up.
- When applied at 20 – 25°C, DEMCO EPOX 112 PR reaches full cure at room temperature in an average of 7 days.
Note: With DEMCO EPOX 112 PR, epoxy coats can be applied over the primed surface after 2 – 4 hours, whereas for polyurethane applications DEMCO EPOX 112 PR must first have reached touch hardness. At an ambient temperature of 15°C – 30°C, this takes a minimum of 12 – 24 hours.
Coverage
Consumption varies depending on the surface to be coated.
