Description
Demco® Carbon Wrap is a unidirectional carbon fiber fabric designed for structural strengthening applications as part of a strengthening system. It offers medium strength and can be applied using dry or wet methods. This versatile fabric can meet a wide range of reinforcement needs and can be applied to various surfaces and geometries such as beams, columns, chimneys, piles, walls, openings, silos and more. It also has a low density that helps minimize additional loads, making it an excellent choice for structural strengthening projects.
Advantages
- Adapts to different surfaces and geometries; can be applied to structural elements such as beams, columns, chimneys, piles, walls, openings, silos, etc.
- An economical solution compared with conventional methods.
- Its low density minimizes additional load.
- Offers versatile use, meeting a wide range of strengthening requirements.
Application Areas
Demco® Carbon Wrap is suitable for professional users only. It is used in structural strengthening applications for the following purposes:
- Increasing resistance to seismic movement
- Increasing the strength and continuity of columns
- Increasing the load-bearing capacity of structural members
- Increasing the seismic performance of masonry walls by compensating for missing reinforcement
- Correcting design or construction defects
- Change of building use, different uses and renovation
- Compliance with current standards
- Increasing service life and durability

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation: Before starting the application, the fiber-reinforced polymer fabrics must be cut to the planned dimensions; thinner or similar solvents must be used to clean the fabric surfaces of foreign matter, oil, grease, dirt, etc.
Application procedure:
- Demco® Carbon Wrap must be placed on the surface with the fiber-reinforced polymer fabric adhesive and tensioned in the direction of the fibers with a roller so that the fabric absorbs the adhesive.
- A second coat of adhesive must then be applied so that the fiber-reinforced polymer fabric is laminated between two coats of adhesive.
- In multi-layer fiber-reinforced polymer applications, the same procedure must be repeated between each layer.
- In areas exposed to sunlight, the material should be covered with a suitable UV-resistant coating within 7 days at the latest after application.
- Where fire resistance is required, the material must be covered with special fire-resistant mortars of suitable thickness.
- On surfaces to be plastered after the fiber-reinforced polymer application, angular sand should be broadcast onto Demco® 933 while it is still wet to create a rough surface. This makes it easier for the plaster to adhere.
Cleaning of tools: After application, the tools and equipment used must be cleaned with solvent. Once hardened, Demco® Carbon Wrap can only be removed from the surface mechanically.
Application Conditions
- The working ambient temperature must be 10°C – 35°C (max.).
- Protective equipment such as gloves and goggles should be used during application. Demco® Carbon Wrap should not be handled with bare hands.
- In special cases (different weather conditions, different application areas, etc.), if any application not specified in the technical data sheet is to be carried out, DEMMERG Construction Chemicals Technical Service must be consulted.
Storage and Shelf Life
Store products in a closed, ventilated and dry place away from moisture, fire, flames and direct sunlight (+5°C – +30°C).
