Description
Demco® Carbon Anchor, also known as Carbon Fiber Anchor, Unidirectional Carbon Fiber Rope or Cord, is a high-strength product specially developed to support and anchor structural elements with Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). Formed by tightly bundling carbon fiber filaments, this flexible and durable cord structure is suitable for increasing the load-bearing capacity of various structural elements such as reinforced concrete beams, columns and walls.
Advantages
- Provides effective strengthening with mesh and carbon fiber fabric in a wide range of structures, from historic buildings to stone and masonry structures, vaults and domes.
- Fully compatible with masonry structures, it works together with them as a structural whole and provides safe support without requiring additional intervention.
- Increases the flexibility of the structure, improving its resistance to shear stresses and enhancing its resistance to actions such as earthquakes.
- Can be easily anchored with ready-to-use epoxy or hydraulic lime mortar, reducing labor costs.
- Strengthening reinforced concrete beams, columns and walls with carbon fiber fabric increases their load-bearing capacity.
- With the mesh and carbon fiber fabric used on ceiling slabs and walls, the durability and stability of structural elements are increased in the long term.
Application Areas
- Historic buildings: Applied with mesh and carbon fiber reinforcements to preserve the structural integrity and increase the durability of historic buildings.
- Masonry structures: Used to increase structural durability and provide strengthening in masonry structures.
- Masonry structures, vaults and domes: Ideal for reinforcing structural integrity in masonry elements, vaults and domes.
- Reinforced concrete structures: Increases load capacity by strengthening reinforced concrete beams, columns and walls with carbon fiber fabric.
- Ceiling slabs and walls: Provides extra durability on ceiling slabs and walls together with mesh and carbon fiber fabric.

Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation: Before application, the target surface must be clean, dry and even. The surface must be free of loose particles.
Application method: FRP fabric and plate applications provide continuity in structural systems, allowing loads to be transferred properly, and act as an important connecting element between different parts of the structure. Integrated into masonry structures, FRP products give them additional durability and stability, increasing the ductility and strength of the structure in projects requiring seismic performance and thus ensuring safety under dynamic loads such as earthquakes. It is also applied together with FRP products to strengthen reinforced concrete beams, columns and slabs. Near-surface mounted (NSM) strengthening methods are also used to increase shear and torsional capacity; in this way, it contributes to carrying axial loads and reinforces overall structural stability.
Before application, the surface must be cleaned of harmful substances, and a first coat of mortar must be applied, using a hydraulic lime-based repair mortar on historic structures and a cement-based repair mortar on reinforced concrete structures. Demco® Carbon Mesh is then placed onto this mortar, giving the structure additional resistance and long-lasting durability.
Application Conditions
- Protective equipment such as gloves and goggles should be used during application. In addition, Demco® Carbon Anchor should not be handled with bare hands.
- FRP systems must only be installed by specialist applicators.
- In special cases (different weather conditions, different application areas, etc.), if any application not described in the data sheet is to be carried out, Demmerg Construction Chemicals Technical Service should be consulted.
