Surface Preparation and Application
Surface preparation
- The concrete surface must be sound and of sufficient strength. The concrete substrate must be clean and have sufficient compressive and tensile strength.
- The surface of the structural element to be treated must be cleaned of residues such as plaster, paint, oil, rust, weak cement laitance and loose particles, and any repairs needed to obtain an even surface must be carried out.
Mixing
- Demco® 945 is supplied in ready-to-use sets according to the mixing ratio. Before mixing begins, the temperature of the material must be within 15°C – 25°C.
- The entire B component should be poured into the A component, and the A+B components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes with a low-speed (~300 rpm) mixer and a suitable mixing paddle until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, taking care that no unmixed material remains on the sides and bottom of the container.
- Take care to avoid air bubbles during mixing. Mix only as much material as can be used within the pot life.
Application
- Apply the material to primed surfaces with a roller so as to achieve a thickness of 0,8–1 mm.
- While the material is still wet, fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) fabrics cut to the appropriate size must be stretched along the fiber direction and bonded to the surface.
- Then, by pressing with a roller along the fiber direction of the fiber-reinforced polymer fabrics, ensure that Demco® 945 is fully absorbed into the fabric and that no voids remain between the fabric and the surface.
- The second coat of adhesive must again be applied with a roller onto the fiber reinforced polymer fabric bonded to the surface, in the direction of the fibers.
- In multi-layer fiber-reinforced polymer applications, 700–800 g/m² of adhesive should be used between layers.
- To allow plastering on top, angular sand must be broadcast onto Demco® 945 while it is still wet after the final coat has been applied.
Application Conditions
Working area temperature must be 10°C – 30°C.
Coverage
Consumption varies depending on the weight of the carbon fiber and the condition of the surface to be treated.
| First coat | 1,8 kg/m² |
| For each subsequent fiber layer | 0,8 kg/m² |
Storage and Shelf Life
Products should be stored in their unopened original packaging in a ventilated, cool and dry environment, away from moisture, frost, fire and direct sunlight. For long-term storage, pallets should not be stacked on top of each other.
Store in original, unopened and undamaged packaging in a dry place at between +10 °C and +30 °C. Protect from direct sunlight.
Suitable for use for 12 months from the date of manufacture.
Packaging
Total Net: 5 kg (A: 3,75 kg / B: 1,25 kg)
Precautions
- Substrate and ambient temperature must be between 10°C – 30°C during application.
- Demco® 945 is supplied in ready-to-use sets. Solvents or similar thinning agents must not be added to the mixture during application.
- Care should be taken to prepare only as much material as can be used within the working time.
- Mixing must always be carried out using suitable mechanical mixers. Do not mix by hand.
- For special cases not covered in the data sheet (different application areas, weather conditions, etc.), consult the technical team of Demmerg Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş.
