Description
DEMCO® EPOX 714 is a solvent-based epoxy topcoat.
Provides excellent protection against atmospheric corrosion. It is used especially for the protection of steel structures. After application of a suitable primer, it also provides excellent adhesion and protection on concrete and wood surfaces.
Advantages
- High chemical and mechanical resistance.
- Easy to apply thanks to its low viscosity and long pot life.
- Can be applied to horizontal and vertical surfaces.
- Thanks to its semi-elastic properties, it moves together with the substrate; it does not crack or break.

Surface Preparation and Application
- Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. The surface to be coated must be free of moisture.
- After sandblasting, sheet steel surfaces must be primed with the surface-tolerant primer-paint (steel) DEMCO® EPOX 148 STEEL or the solvent-based epoxy primer (steel) DEMCO® EPOX 132 PR/S.
- Wooden surfaces must be primed with Solvent-Free Epoxy Impregnating Primer DEMCO® EPOX 100 PR after they have been cleaned with sandpaper or a floor sanding machine, freed of dust and dried.
- Concrete surfaces must be roughened by shot blasting, grinding or milling. The prepared concrete surface must be primed with the Solvent-Free Epoxy Impregnating Primer DEMCO® EPOX 100 PR, following the application instructions, so that it is fully impregnated.
- Any cracks and holes in the surface must be repaired using epoxy putty.
- After component A has been mixed in its own container, all of component B should be poured into component A, and the two components should be mixed for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
- If necessary, it can be thinned by 3 – 5% with DEMCO® EPOX 1100 THINNER.
- DEMCO® EPOX 714 is applied by brush, roller or spray gun.
Application Conditions
- Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
- The ideal substrate temperature for application is 15°C – 30°C.
- The temperature must never fall below 10°C. For outdoor and indoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
- The relative moisture of the substrate must be below 4% and the ambient humidity below 80%.
- For 24 hours after application, the surface must not be touched or come into contact with water.
- A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
- The full hardening time at room temperature of DEMCO® EPOX 714 applied at 20 – 25°C is 7 days on average.
Coverage
A consumption of 0,120 – 0,150 kg/m² per coat is required (50 – 55 µ).
