Surface Preparation and Application
Surface Quality: All surfaces must be sound, dry and of sufficient strength.
Surface Preparation: The surface must be free of dust, rust, oil, salt and similar contaminants. All surfaces must be sanded and primed with Demco® EPOX 540.
Mixing: Demco® EPOX 540 is supplied in ready-to-use sets. When preparing the mix, pour the entire B component into the A component and mix for at least 3 minutes with a low-speed mixer and a suitable mixing paddle. No unmixed material should remain on the sides or bottom of the container, and care must be taken to prevent air bubbles from forming during mixing.
Application: Surfaces to be coated must be dried and free of contaminants such as oil and dust. The components are mixed with a suitable mixer so that no air is entrapped. For lamination, the product is applied to the surfaces with a roller or brush and spread out. The fibers must be thoroughly wetted out and saturated with resin, then rolled so that no air bubbles remain.
Application Conditions
- During application, the surface and ambient temperatures must be within 10 °C – 30 °C.
- Do not add solvents or similar thinning agents to the mix.
- Prepare only as much material as can be used within the working time, and continue working until it has all been used.
- Mixing must be carried out with suitable mechanical mixers. Do not mix by hand.
- After application, protect from moisture, condensation and water for at least 24 hours.
Coverage
0,4-0,6 kg/m² per coat.
