Description

DEMCO EPOX 132 PR/S is a two-component, solvent-based epoxy primer for steel surfaces. It is used on machinery and steel structures in places with heavy industrial atmospheres, such as oil refineries, wastewater treatment plants, power plants and chemical storage facilities. As it contains rust-inhibiting pigments, it has a wide range of applications.

Advantages

  • Provides very good protection against corrosion.
  • Provides a suitable base for epoxy intermediate coat and topcoat applications.

Application Areas

  • Oil refineries
  • Wastewater facilities
  • Power plants
  • Chemical storage facilities
  • Machinery and steel structures in heavy industrial atmospheres

Suitable Substrates

  • Blast-cleaned steel surfaces

Surface Preparation and Application

  • Surfaces to be coated must be free of oil, rust, dust and similar contaminants. The surface to be coated must be free of moisture.
  • Pour all of component B into component A and mix the two components for at least 3 minutes until a homogeneous mixture is obtained. Mixing at low speed is recommended to prevent air bubbles from forming in the mixture.
  • If necessary, it can be thinned by 3 – 5% with DEMCO EPOX 1100 THINNER.
  • DEMCO EPOX 132 PR/S is applied to the blasted surface by brush, roller or airless spray.
  • The subsequent epoxy coats are applied over the primed surface.

Application Conditions

  • Working area temperature must be 15°C – 30°C.
  • The ideal substrate temperature is 15°C – 30°C. The temperature must never be below 10°C.
  • For indoor and outdoor applications, substrate temperature, ambient temperature and ambient humidity must be taken into account.
  • The relative moisture of the substrate must be below 4% and the ambient humidity below 80%.
  • For 24 hours after application, the surface must not be touched or come into contact with water.
  • A suitable amount of mixture should be prepared during work, and work should continue until the entire mixture has been used.
  • When applied at 20 – 25°C, DEMCO EPOX 132 PR/S reaches full cure at room temperature in an average of 7 days.

Coverage

A consumption of 0,100 – 0,150 kg/m² per coat is required.

Storage and Shelf Life

At 15 – 25°C, in dry, enclosed storage areas away from direct sunlight, in the unopened original packaging; 1 year.

Packaging
